I’m a curious person who likes to learn about many different things, like math, physics, and politics. I really enjoy taking photos of nature. I love reading, especially mystery books. I also like origami, which is the Japanese art of folding paper, and I enjoy cooking. I learn these by watching videos online.
In my free time, I love visiting new places, especially ones near the sea. I often plan trips with my friends and workmates to different places around Ireland. -
My Work:
I use computers to help scientists choose the best materials for making things like phones, cars, and computers. This helps us make them faster, safer, and cheaper.

I work with powerful large computers to understand how different materials will act in electronic devices, like phones or cars. When my friends in the lab tell me what they want to build, I help them pick the best material for the job. For example, I can tell if a device might stop working in very hot or cold temperatures, or if it can handle lots of electricity. This way, we make new electronics that are faster, safer, and can handle tough conditions. It helps make better and cheaper things, like electric cars, phones, and computers.
Interestingly, most of the places I’ve worked have supported programs where we get to talk to the public about science. I love sharing my passion for research! Another fun part of working in science is getting to travel for conferences. I’ve visited lots of countries, like India, Germany, Switzerland, and Finland, to meet other scientists and learn new things.

My Typical Day:
I wake up at 7:00, exercise, eat breakfast, and take the bus to work. I spend my day in my office at the Institute, checking emails and working on science projects. At 1:00 PM, I have lunch with friends, then finish work at 6:00 and head home.

I wake up at 7:00 in the morning and do some exercise to start my day. Then I have breakfast, like bread with jam or cereal, take a shower, and head to the bus station. I catch the bus at around 8:30 and go to my office. Once I am there, I check my emails to see if there is anything important to reply to. After that, I look at my schedule to see if I have any meetings. By 10:00, I grab a cup of coffee and start working on science projects! I connect to a big, powerful computer to run experiments and do some analysis.
At around 1:00 PM, I have lunch with my colleagues, where we talk about science or other fun stuff like politics. After about 45 minutes, I go back to work until 6:00. Some days I have a lot of meetings with my supervisor, colleagues, or partners who help with our project. After wrapping up the day, I head home.

What I'd do with the prize money:
If I win the prize, I will use it to organize a fun science demonstration for school kids! We could explore exciting experiments and learn cool things about how the world works.
-
Education:
I went to a government primary school in India. After that, I completed my college education, earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry in India. Then, I joined a research team in India to explore exciting topics about bacteria colonies that combine biology and physics. After that, I moved to Germany to get my PhD in materials science. Now, I’m working on materials and device modeling for electronics, especially transistors!
-
Qualifications:
I have a PhD in Physics and Material Science from Germany.
-
Work History:
So far, I have always been in academics, focusing on research and teaching. Along the way, I moved to different countries and met many people with different expertise, work experiences, and worldviews. Each of these experiences has helped me grow and learn even more!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Curious, creative, friendly
What was your favourite subject at school?
Physics, mathematics, and chemistry
What did you want to be after you left school?
I always wanted to be a scientist, no matter what subject it was! I just loved learning and discovering new things.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Yes, I got into trouble many times! There are so many stories that I wouldn't have enough space to share them.
If you weren't doing this job, what would you choose instead?
Honestly, I am not sure! I love science so much that I can't imagine doing anything else!
Who is your favourite singer or band?
My favorite singer is A. R. Rahman. He is an amazing musician from India and an Oscar winner! I grew up listening to his wonderful music.
What's your favourite food?
Fish and white rice
What is the most fun thing you've done?
The most fun thing I've done was when I was in college. My friends and I organized a big picnic, and it was so much fun! Everyone from our department, including our professor, joined us, and we had a great time together.
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
I wish for: To make a great scientific discovery. To be a wonderful mentor and teacher for others. To earn a lot of money.
Tell us a joke.
Why can't you trust an atom? Because they make up everything!
